Qia (Michael) Yu
Cornell UniversityQia (Michael) Yu is a multidisciplinary artist and student at Cornell University's Nolan School of Hotel Administration, where he studies finance, real estate, and entrepreneurship.
Working across oil painting, photography, and digital media, Michael explores the intersection of Eastern philosophy, contemporary capitalism, cultural identity, and the evolving relationship between art and technology. His work often juxtaposes traditional imagery with modern economic and social symbols, questioning how society defines value, identity, and meaning.
Growing up between China and the United States, he draws inspiration from both Eastern and Western perspectives. Beyond his artistic practice, Michael is developing a start-ups, an initiative focused on cultural provenance, intellectual property, and the preservation of creative ownership in the age of artificial intelligence.
Through both art and entrepreneurship, he seeks to bridge culture, commerce, and emerging technology, exploring how creativity can preserve human meaning in an increasingly data-driven world.
“Somewhere between memory and imagination, I find the colors of my soul.”
